C .Along Came Polly This is Hollywood.
Once again we are brutally brought
back to the screen in an effort to
understand, how and why anyone
would make a movie as lousy and
typically cliché as "Along Came
Polly." Ben Stiller and Jenifer
Aniston are lacking in every
category, at the very least, lacking
in chemistry. The writing does
nothing for this already boring
movie as well as almost ruin any
kind of chance for it to spark a
laugh. This is a movie that you can
see, simply by renting any other
Ben Stiller movie and a romantic
comedy. Not Recommended
B-The Butterfly Effect How does "The
Butterfly Effect," affect the way we
perceive actors like Ashton
Kutcher? This movie, like with
"Monster" (although far from it's
reach), puts a common face in an
uncommon role. Even when this
role happens to be played by a man
known for his taste for "shlock."
Ashton Kutcher reveals possibilities
within his newly founded range of
talent, in this interesting, yet
"ultra-violent" drama/thriller.
Butterfly Effect will leave you happy,
yet at the same time yearning for
more of its weird and dazzling plot.
This movie in all its worth was
interesting enough to sit through,
and enticing enough to not throw up
afterwards. With this, The Butterfly
Effect, with it's sometimes corny
lines and cliché moments, is not too
bad. Definitely one of Kutcher's
best, though that may not be saying
much. Partially Recommended
C+ 2. 50 First Dates 5o First Dates
brings Adam Sandler back to the
screen in an attempt to make a
buck or two on some decent
laughs. The problem here, is that it
contains none. This movie is as
effortless as "Anger Management"
and as stupid as "The Waterboy."
Although Sandler is credited, and
well deserved for his role in "Punch
Drunk Love," where he plays a
depressed and possibly mentally ill
man trying to fins purpose in his dull
life, no resemblance of such talent
is displayed and yet again, the
movie is corrupted by
"commercialized" horrible writing.
Not on the top of my list this year.

A Godzilla I laughed, I cried and I
laughed a whole lot more. Godzilla
is no classic at its fullest until seen
where it belongs, upon the silver
screen. This movie is full of whit and
good humour as with the content to
induce emotion as well as
suspense.
On top of being one of the oldest
"hokey" monster movie clasics, it
also stands among few movies
such as "Doctor Strangelove" and
"The Road Warrior" who present a
worthy commentary about the
horrors of nuclear war. Only within
its true form, uncut and undubbed,
is this movie truly at its best and
well worth the money in your pocket.
See it before it is too late!

Hellboy B Hellboy is an entertaining
movie to say the most. The first half
was filled with decent character
development and seemingly
interesting plot but as it journeys
toward the end its theme seems to
diminish and it becomes a
conglomerate of facts and stories
that only elongate the scenes and
may even cause boredom. Overall
this movie is enjoyable enough to
see and although has its flukes, is a
good time at the movies.

A   Kill Bill V.2 Just when the limits
of exploitation film couldn't be
challenged further than the first
volume, Quentin Tarantino delivers
a fantastic closing to an exciting
epic. Kill Bill V.2 as with the first
continue to ignite the senses with
catchy dialogue, fast paced action,
and clever whit. This movie is hard
to rate separately than the first for
me, but where lacking what the first
had in style, it makes up for with it's
dynamic conversation, and humour.
This is a much more slow-paced
film, but exciting to the last scene
and satisfies the utter anticipation
created by the first volume. Kill Bill
as a whole will make you laugh,
possibly cry and certainly entertain
you. The first is recommended to
be seen first or the plot may seem
diminished. Great movie.

A .LOTR ROTK We cried at the
Fellowship, our jaws dropped at
The Two Towers, and finally we
come to a stunning finish to a four
year project. Although in few ways,
not my favorite of the three films,
ROTK manages to up the
benchmark from the already
impressive battle scenes of the
previous films. Three words to
describe the film, yet hardly do it
justice; "Bigger, Badder, Bolder."

C+.Miracle  What a boring movie. Is
this the same sports movies I may
have seen just last year or the year
before? Miracle in all its worth is
simply "lacking in miracles." The
only character development I
noticed was of when a man in the
audience yelled out the morally
shallow theme. It is no different than
any other "happy ending," life story
where someone or something
overcomes the odds. The only
difference happens to be that this is
based upon a true story which in
this case is where the sappy story
derived from. Not only does this
movie lack in story, but the story it
does have could almost be found
"ultra-patriotic" and typically
offensive. This theme of winning
sports had been done almost as
much as hockey and this movie
proves, that the world doesn't need
much more of it.

A Spider Man We have seen a
rampage of comic book options,
bled to death by the greed of hungry
production companies, but so few
have made the cut. The "Hulk" was
mediocre, "X-Men" was just okay. It
has been with the "Spider-Man"
franchise, that the benchmark is
truly set, and this film is no
exception (far from it). Spider man
2 takes what was good about the
first (stunning action, undying
emotion, the depth of character
development produced by its cast
and Sam Raimi's superior
directing) and improves it. In this
precocious sequel, aside from the
"graphic fashion" of the fight
sequences, Spider-Man
investigates the emotions and
struggles of being a superhero and
surviving everyday life all
meanwhile battling good versus evil
with Doctor Octopus (a mad
scientist turned evil by the clutches
of four mechanical arms and the
hunt for fusion energy, played by
Alfred Molina). This film brings back
meaning to fun at the movies and is
a joyride certainly worth the money
in your pocket.
